End of Life Policy

Definition of terms

• End of Sale

  Last official date to buy the respective product or order the product, service or subscriptions through EditShare point-of-sale mechanisms.

• End of Support

  Last official date to open a ticket for support on the respective product.

• End of Life

  The date for when a product is being officially retired by EditShare and is at the end of the product life cycle. It is at this point when it is no longer worked on by the EditShare R&D organization.

End of Life (EOL) process

EditShare understands that End of Sale, End of Support and End of Life milestones have the potential to impact products in the field. EditShare has documented a set of general policy guidelines as follows:

• A product End-of-Sale statement will be announced 2 years prior. An End-of-Sale announcement will come approximately 1 year prior to the End-of-Sale milestone, hence approximately 3 years before End of Life.
• Access to EditShare Support will be available depending on the status of a customer's Service Level Agreement (SLA).
• Once a product has reached the End of Life milestone, support for that respective product is no longer available.
• Hardware warranty replacements will be available for 5 years starting at the time of shipment assuming a continuous active support agreement has been in place between the customer and EditShare. The End User is responsible for shipping costs.
• Any customers with an active and fully paid support contract for EOL equipment that extends beyond an EOL date will receive support until their respective contract has expired.
• Software support for the current and previously released major version of software is available (major version refers to EFS7, EFS2020, EFS2021 and so on).
• Any new major software version release will be accompanied by an EOL notice for the one previous to the last. For example, a release of version 2020 will include an EOL for version 6, which came two releases before 2020.
• All software EOL will be announced with 6 months' notice.
• When a product has gone EOL, it has also gone EOS. This means there is no support for any product that has gone EOL. EditShare suggests replacing any existing hardware between the End of Sale and EOL period.
• If a third party part or product has gone End of Sale, EditShare cannot guarantee a replacement part or product. This includes but is not limited to switches, tape drives and UPS units. EditShare offers numerous options for extending the warranty on 3rd party equipment that we provide.
• If a third party part or product has gone EOL, EditShare can no longer support that particular part or product or offer extended warranties.
• EditShare suggests updating all hardware every five years to ensure data safety and optimal performance.
• EditShare does not offer customers support contract purchases that extend beyond the hardware or software lifespan.

Geevs

Geevs application software

End of Support for Geevs software is defined as two years of bug fixes, maintenance releases, or patches for critical bugs when reported via EditShare Support. Customers on an EditShare support agreement will have access to these updates.

After the second year, EditShare may provide bug fixes and/or software patches to maintain compatibility with FLOW 2020 and 2021 at the time the issue is reported. Customers may be required to install a newer software version of FLOW Geevs to receive any of the above continued software support. Compatibility between Geevs and FLOW is expected to be maintained through FLOW 2021 (approximately September 2021).

Geevs operating system

The Geevs application is based on the Microsoft Windows version 7 operating system. Only Enhanced Security Updates are available for purchase from EditShare. No other OS upgrades are planned by Microsoft at this time.

Geevs hardware

The Geevs hardware warranty is valid for 5 years from the original date of sale of the system assuming a continuous active support agreement has been in place between the customer and EditShare.

Alternative solutions for Geevs customers

Customers seeking EditShare's alternative solutions to SDI ingest, including multicam based studio workflows, have a migration path for improved functionality via FLOW and its associated baseband ingest solutions. Customers interested in channel playout and news solutions have multiple options with our partnership with Cinedeck, Imagine, or our VBOX product lines. Please reach out to your EditShare sales representative or channel partner to discuss Geevs trade-in options.

Geevs customers are entitled to 5 years of hardware support eligibility from the date of purchase (regardless of EOL date), assuming a continuous support agreement has been in place.

EFS & FLOW

EFS legacy hardware

EFS hardware solutions span multiple generations. The table below represents the list of EFS hardware solutions that have reached their end of life.

EFS & FLOW Classic “Blue” hardware

Over the last two years EditShare has been migrating to the HPE hardware platform for most EFS and all FLOW platforms. With that transition complete we have announced the end of sale for all classic / blue hardware platforms with the exception of the EFS SSD server. Classic/blue hardware quotes and orders may be offered only for exceptional circumstances when required.

Of course this does not change or impact the warranty period on any previously purchased hardware. Hardware warranty on any previously purchased classic/blue hardware remains in place for five (5) years pursuant to the EditShare hardware warranty documentation.

EFS & FLOW software
