National Film and Television School Expands Its EditShare Platform with High-Performance Storage and Modern Review Workflows
The NFTS, one of Europe's busiest film and TV training environments, expanded its five-year EditShare deployment with a new tiered storage architecture and MediaSilo review tools, delivered by Jigsaw24 Media.
The National Film and Television School (NFTS) has completed a major expansion of its EditShare infrastructure, adding tiered storage, refreshed high-availability capacity, and a new NVMe performance tier, along with MediaSilo for secure review and approvals. The project was delivered with partner Jigsaw24 Media.
NFTS runs one of Europe's busiest film and television production training environments, supporting continuous real productions across genres while expanding student intake and campus accommodation, funded through government support, student fees, and industry contributions.
NFTS first adopted EditShare five years ago, and the platform has supported the school's heavy, multi-department workloads ever since, making it the natural foundation to build on for this expansion.
The new architecture combines high-capacity nearline storage, a refreshed high-availability layer, and an NVMe tier designed for 4K, 8K, and VFX-heavy coursework, supporting high-bandwidth, multi-stream editorial performance across the school.
"EditShare sits at the heart of how we teach production at NFTS," said Doug Shannon, Head of Systems and IT at NFTS. "The new storage gives us the bandwidth modern production workflows demand, while FLOW and MediaSilo help us keep projects organized and secure across every course, so we can run more concurrent projects at higher resolutions."
"EditShare has been a core part of how the school runs day-to-day production training," said Sean Bradley, Regional Sales Director at EditShare. "This refresh delivers faster bandwidth, more resilience, and room to grow."
MediaSilo adds efficient note collection and secure cut sharing, with version control across multiple editorial teams working in parallel.
"Our requirements grow every year, and reliability and performance were the priorities for this project," Bradley added. "The new system sets NFTS up for its next phase of growth."
